THE PROGRAM

The Inspire XII Promise is a scholarship program. The Promise provides qualified graduates of West Orange-Stark High School and Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School a scholarship that can be used at any accredited Texas public university, community college, public health related institution, and technical college as recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The Inspire XII Foundation Scholarship Program is administered by its executive director. Inspire XII is a nonprofit program of educational support that seeks to involve and assist the private sector in expanding educational opportunities and encouraging educational achievement. Scholarship awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability, or national origin.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to apply to the Inspire XII Promise, the student must –

  • Be a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident
  • Have established residency in one of the approved school districts*
  • Demonstrate good moral character and conduct
  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale as of the time of application and as of graduation from high school
  • Be a high school senior planning to enroll in a full-time** undergraduate course of study at an accredited post secondary institution***
  • Have participated in at least one approved extra-curricular or UIL event each year of high school
  • Maintain all state attendance requirements during high school

*Enrollment and residency must be continuous throughout the student’s education. The approved districts are the West Orange – Cove Consolidated ISD and the Little Cypress – Mauriceville Consolidated ISD.

**Full-time study is defined as continuous enrollment for at least 12 credit hours per semester.

*** Approved accredited institutions are defined as Title IV eligible, accredited, post secondary two- or four-year colleges or universities, or technical schools in the state of Texas as recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

AWARDS

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a scholarship based on the length of attendance in the West Orange-Stark and /or the Little Cypress-Mauriceville district.  Any student enrolled during the 06-07 school year, K-11th grades, will be eligible for full scholarship benefits.  For anyone who enrolls after the 06-07 school year the length of attendance benefit is as follows:

The amount of the award is supplemental to all other scholarships or grants received by or for the benefit of the student applicant.

APPLICATION

Interested students must complete an application and deliver it together with the following required documents:

  • Current, complete official transcript of grades
  • Extra-curricular documentation
  • Printed confirmation of complete FAFSA
  • Proof of residency in an approved district
    • documentation of home ownership
    • documentation of apartment or house lease
    • most recent 6 months of active utility bills
    • Legal guardianship papers, if applicable
  • High School attendance records
  • High School conduct records*

* If you choose not to allow Inspire XII to view your records, you will automatically be deemed ineligible to receive the scholarship.

The application and all required supporting documents must be mailed with proper postage to Inspire XII Foundation IN ONE ENVELOPE postmarked by March 28, 2008.  Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all required materials in one envelope. Materials sent separately will not be considered. All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by Inspire XII Executive Director, Inspire XII Board of Directors and the Inspire XII Advisory Board.  Information received shall not be returned.

SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of meeting all eligibility criteria. Selection of recipients is made by Inspire XII Foundation. In no instance does any employee or administrator of either school district play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision of the Inspire XII Foundation as final.

Applicants will be notified at the end of April regarding the status of their application. Inspire XII will notify scholarship recipients at the contact address provided in the application. Recipients who do not timely respond by returning the required student acceptance form will forfeit their award.  The award is subject to the conditions and requirements stated in the award notification, including but not limited to the requirement that the student graduate from a high school in one of the two approved school districts at the conclusion of the Spring semester in which the award is granted.

PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIPS

Inspire XII processes scholarship payments on behalf of the student. Payment is made directly to the educational institution. The scholarship will be paid per semester.  The scholarship provides up to four years of tuition and mandatory fees. Room and board will not be covered.  Summer semester classes will not be covered, unless attending a technical program where year-long schooling is mandatory.  For technical programs, payment of summer classes will begin in Summer 2009.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Upon acceptance of the Inspire XII Promise scholarship, the student must agree to abide by all of the rules of the scholarship.  The student must be admitted to and enrolled at an accredited two-or four-year college or university, or an approved technical school, as recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the fall semester immediately following high school graduation, unless interrupted by military service.  The student must begin and continue making progress toward a bachelor’s or associate’s degree or technical certification.  The student must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA average, and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.  If the student is unable to meet the requirements for grade point average, or minimum credit hours per semester, he or she will be placed on scholarship probation for the following semester.  The Inspire XII Promise scholarship will be temporarily suspended and the student will be responsible for all costs associated with attending school.  If after completing the semester of scholarship  probation, the student has maintained the grade point average requirement and carried the minimum credit hours successfully, the Inspire XII Promise scholarship will be reinstated.  No more than one scholarship probation period will be allowed during the life of the scholarship for each student.  Recipients also are responsible for timely advising Inspire XII Foundation about the existence or receipt by or for the student of all other scholarships, grants, and interest-free loans for which the recipient is the beneficiary.

OBLIGATIONS

Recipients will be required to supply an official transcript of grades at the end of each semester. Recipients are required to complete 40 hours of community service in the Orange area each year the student is part of the Inspire XII Promise. Recipients are required to supply Inspire XII Foundation with updated grade information, when requested, and to notify Inspire XII Foundation of any changes of address, school enrollment, or other relevant information. Failure to notify Inspire XII of any of these changes may result in the forfeit of an award.  Falsification of information will result in termination of any award granted. 

REVISIONS

The Inspire XII Foundation reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time including but not limited to modifying the funding levels or percentages, changing the eligibility criteria, or even termination of the program.
